A – Feather Bonnet
Made from ostrich feathers dyed black, this is very tall and adds considerably to the height of the piper, it is hollow inside. – $265

B – Pipers Doublet
The jacket that is worn as part of the full ceremonial dress, these are very expensive, but also very good looking, they tend to come with either silver or gold embroidery. – $460

C – Plaid
A tartan piece which is worn over the shoulder and drapes down beyond the kilt. – $240

D – Plaid Broach
This holds the plaid in place over the shoulder. – $85

E – Cross Belt
This is worn over the opposite shoulder to the plaid. – $150

Worn under the tops of the socks, these are available in plain colours and tartan, these show up really well when worn with white or cream socks. – $20

G – Horse Hair Sporran
This is worn at the front of the kilt. Sporrans come in many different sizes and shapes, most have pouches in them for carrying keys, money and on some occasions, hip flasks. – $185

H – Kilt
These come in many different tartans. The kilt is an essential garment for any piper. The plain kilt is normally identifiable with Scotland. The plain kilts are normally identifiable with Ireland. – $400-500

I – Waist Belt & Buckle
A belt worn around the waist, the buckle is a fancy piece of the uniform, they come in many different designs, some Pipe Bands have their band’s logo on these. – $120

J – Diced Hose
A knee high sock with a pattern sewn into the material, these are handcrafted and made from Scottish wool. – $40

K – Skean Dhus
A small knife, dagger or dirk, this is worn in the right sock. These can have clan badges or celtic designs on them, usually with a ruby on the top. – $100

L – Spats
Short gaiters worn over the Ghillie Brogues, these are buttoned up the sides. Normally really bright white, these require painting after every performance. – $65
